UPCARD: Let Kids Speak Exactly What They Want

One of the most heartbreaking situations is when you clearly see that your child wants to say something. But you remain unable to understand him as something he wants but the words just don’t come!

Parents can understand the feeling of their kids but sometimes they remain to fail to understand them. It’s like you can see in their eyes that they are hoping you can just know. But thanks to technology as an app is introduced to help your kid communicate with you!

It’s called ‘UpCard’:

Don’t you believe that? It’s so-called ‘Upcard’ and considered to be life-changer for many families. The upcard is the autism application allows you to create digital picture cards that can be used for speaking.

An application works on the principles of a picture exchange communication system (PECS). It is developed for cognitive, physical communication challenges. It made up of ‘picture cards’ that users can place in sequence to form simple statements and requests.

Series of picture cards:

  • The application contains a variety of picture cards for communication but you are allowed to add your own device’s photo.
  • For each card, parents are allowed to record themselves speaking the word.
  • In this way, children hear the same voice every time without any subtle changes. The studies show that mother voices play a particularly important role in kid’s brain, social and emotional development.
  • The app will also help to track the nutrition of the child and add a structured visual plan for child’s day. They will track the speech, mood and sleep habits and create a perfect response for a family. This application is freely available on both IOS and Android.

A motivation behind building UpCard:

  • James is the developer of this app and finds difficulty while communicating with his child.
  • He is working on a prototype of app and his child put sentence ‘I want + Help + iPad’.
  • I am shocked with his words as he has already iPad but comes to know its volume is closed.

So I reached over and open it and his child looked at him, smiles and ran off.
