Punjab Govt Introduce Smart Cards To Replace Vehicle Registration Book From This Month

 

The Pakistani government is ready to fulfill its old commitment and is all set to introduce smart cards as replacement of traditional vehicle books.

Shahbaz Sharif has introduced this project in March 2015, but it is delayed till now. The taxation department has announced that it will replace vehicle book with smart cards in mid-October this month. This is really a good news for people that love to carry smartcard instead of the book. These cards are introduced for security and facilitation of citizens. It will also make the vehicle verification process quite simple and easy for everyone. This update is not only limited to smart cards but the government has announced the launch of latest vehicle registration plates. These universal number plates will ensure a clean registration process and evading motor vehicle tax or fake number plates.

New Number Plate Design:

The excitation departments already added that they have difficulty while reading a number from plates via camera. The purpose of new number plates that it can easily detectable via camera. These number plates are introduced as a project of a safe city with the modified size and font size.

The Punjab government has reintroduced the complete registration process which will not only discourage forged documents.

No one is allowed to make duplicate registration on same chassis number in any district. The main goal behind these changes in the taxation department is to digitize complete system with the advancement of technology.

Benefits of carrying smart cards with you:

  • The smart card will be easy to carry with you due to its smaller size as compared to registration book
  • It will carry information of the vehicle’s owner and vehicle’s body
  • The smart card will expire after 5 years and needs to be replaced
  • The smart card will expire after transfer of a vehicle to a new owner and a new card is issued
  • The cost of the smart card is to be expected Rs. 500
  • Each card comes along with NFC chip, that lets your card supply data to another supported device near it.
  • These cards also come with extra security features that protect owner information

This smart card holds information of Vehicle’s owner name, CNIC, chassis number, engine number, registration number, color, maker’s name, seating capacity, number of cylinders, and annual tax. The government has revamped complete database to ensure that no one is able to make duplicate registration of the same vehicle. Other than, smart cards also make easier for a citizen to pay taxes and know their payment history.
