Plastic bottles with sun-powered ‘bulbs’ could brighten millions of home

Have you access with electricity in your region or having limited electricity?

The stats show that nearly 1.2 billion people in the world don’t have access towards electricity or they are living in underdeveloped countries but what can they do to get power at home?

The project was introduced by Philippine-based My Shelter Foundation to provide the electricity at home with the usage of old plastic bottles, bleach, sun-powered bulbs and water in those areas that are cut off power or have limited access to survive at night.

The project was known as ‘Liter of light’ and the idea was quite simple and preferable in plenty of areas as they just collect the old plastic bottles and filled with water and bleach and then need to stick them into the roof.

The bleach-filled bottle will refract the lights from outside the home and then bring the light inside the home and light-up as a normal light bulb.

The foundation finds difficulties at an early stage to bring light at home:

The expert added that they have added this mechanism to the poorer areas and they stuck to each other in such a way that no light will enter even in a day but this bottle only works during sun time.

Then they change the strategy and add the test tube with small LED i.e. sun-powered bulbs inside and they will lighten up the room as normal bulb even in the night as these bulbs are working as mini solar. The group also made the solution with the help of kerosene lamps as they convert them into solar lamps.

The foundation was currently working in Egypt, Philippine and Colombia and providing the details of the strategy to help different regions to provide light to poorer areas.

A method of bringing light with bleach bottle:

The idea is simple as you need to mix three milliliters of bleach into 1 liter of water and also utilize sun-powered bulbs and the concoction lasts for around five years.

The group also posted several videos on YouTube to help the people and build their perfect light sources locally and provide these sources in poor regions and this will help you to reuse the garbage i.e. plastic bottles that are available easily.
