Lahore Safe City Project Exposed After Blast Near Arfa Karim Tower

Do you think Lahore is a safe city after the blast occurred recently near Arfa Karim tower Ferozpur Road?

The government had claimed that Lahore is the safe city of the country. The addition of the cameras on every single street will control the terrorism and crimes. But all promises of the government remain unfulfilled and the blast exposes Lahore Safe City Project.

Lahore suicide blast near Arfa Karim Tower killed 26 people. The blast includes nine police officers available at the spot to control the operation. Moreover, nearly 56 people have injured at the spot. But this situation made people think about the progress of the country?

The fact is that not a single camera has plotted near the affected area. The police officers faced difficulties during the investigation of the case.

  • This shows the corruption occurs during the implementation of the Lahore safe city project. The actual planning of the cameras shows that 8000 cameras must be implemented in the city to cover the crimes and terrorists.
  • But authorities are able to activate just 1500 cameras in the region. That figure doesn’t complete the 19% project which has expected to complete in 2016.

The promises of the government are raising questions in the people’s mind:

  • The police department added that they had no clear video footage for the investigation. The implementation of the program failed to achieve security parameters and unable to identify the intervals.
  • This is known as ‘Safe City’ and the worth of the project is Rs. 13 billion. The Lahore safe city project management was unable to answer the questions raised after this attack.
  • The worth mentioning point is that the project has announced in PPP government. It was revamped by PML-N. What is the future of security in Lahore?
