Khadim Hussain Rizvi – Protest Not Finished Yet

On Saturday, Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the firebrand religious cleric said that the TLP (Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan) nationwide protest is not concluded yet. He warned that the protest has been suspended only after the agreement made with the Government Pakistan Tehreeq-e-Insaf (PTI).

TLP will await the fulfilment of the promise made by the federal government to put Aasiya bibi (a Christian woman acquitted by the Supreme Court of blasphemy charge) name on the Exit Control List (ECL), said Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

If the demands of the far-right religious party are not met in the given time. the countrywide protest will be resumed, Khadim Rizvi.

He said, “If Aasiya case is not heard in the light of Sharia, we have every right to resume our peaceful protest”.

Moreover, the influential cleric also warned the government to not send Aasiya bibi abroad.

“In the meanwhile, Aasiya’s name must remain on ECL and any attempt to transport her abroad be avoided,” he said.

On Friday, the TLP ended the protest after striking a deal with the government.

The representatives of both the sides have signed the agreement. Its a five point agreement mentioning that the government would not object to the review petition filed against Aasiya Bibi’s acquittal by the top court and the legal process to place her name on the ECL would be initiated immediately.

Also, the deaths (if any) which took place during the course of protests, would be investigated as per law and the government would release all protesters arrested since October 30.

Moreover, the TLP apologized for the inconveniences caused due to the protests in all major cities.
