Islamabad – JUI-S Maulana Sami ul Haq Assassinated in Rawalpindi

INFLUENTIAL RELIGIOUS SCHOLAR AND FORMER SENATOR MAULANA SAMI UL HAQ HAS BEEN ASSASSINATED!

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) chief Maulana Sami ul Haq has been ASSASSINATED at his residence in Rawalpindi, family says.

The son of Maulana Sami ul Haq, named Maulana Hami ul Haq has confirmed that his father has been assassinated.

According to Maulana Hami ul Haq, his father was about to join the protest in Islamabad. But due to roads blockage he came to home for rest. His driver went out for half an hour and when he came back he saw Maulana Sami ul Haq lying in a pool of blood.

The body of Maulana Sahab has been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for further legal formalities.

TV reporters said,

The age of Maulana Sami was around 83 years, and he was the head of Darul Uloom Haqqania seminary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Akora Khattak.

From 1985 to 1991 he remained the member of the Senate of Pakistan. And again from 1991 to 1997, he become an active member of Pakistan’s senate.

He had been aligned with the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf for the July 25, 2018 election.

After Maulana Haq’s assassiantion, small protests have been started in Aabpara chowk. Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Hamza Shafaqat tweeted,

But after few minutes, the condition has been under controlled. Hamza Shafaqat again tweeted,

Addressing Geo News, Maulana Haseem, a central leader of the JUI-S, affirmed the death of Maulana Sami ul Haq in the knife attack.

PM Imran Khan Condemns Maulana Haq’s Assassination:

Prime Minister Imran Khan has Condemned the assassination of Maulana Sami ul haq and he said that the country has lost a very important religious leader. He said that Maulana Haq’s services will always be remembered.

Moreover, PM Imran Khan has sought a report and directed for further investigation immediately of the Maulana Haq’s case to find out the perpetrators.

Usman Buzdar, Punjab Chief Minister, has also denounced the assassination and sought a report from the Inspector General Punjab Police.

A high-level delegation from Afghanistan at Darul Uloom Haqqania has called Maulana Sami ul Haq as the “Father of Taliban”, last month and urged him to play a role in resolving the Afghan issue.

The delegation considered Maulana Sami ul Haq as their leader and that is why they appealed to the JUI-S chief to play the role of a mediator between different groups of Taliban. The delegation members assured him that they would accept his decision for reconciliation in Afghanistan.

Maulana Sami said that the resolutionof Afghan issue is very complicated and difficult for him. However, he had said he wished to see a logical end to the Afghan issue and an end to bloodshed in the country.
