Pakistan HEC has announced serious information about the Ph.D. programs across the nation. HEC closes 110 Ph.D. programs across a variety of public and private universities due to the poor quality. This information made a new debate in the region and students are in problem.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, HEC Chairman:
- This information is announced by the chairman of HEC in a seminar discussing the trends and prospects of education. He wants to improve the standard of education in the region and want to end the corruption from the region.
- The main objective of the event is to discuss the upcoming openings as well as challenges faced by the HEC. Our current focus is to improve the quality of education and the research departments. We want to perform different research and used for improving society lifestyle. This is the reason HEC closes 110 Ph.D. programs.
- There is no benefit for students to enroll themselves in the journal and rankings if there is no practical outcome. We have made several efforts for students of a nation to make their degree as valuable as others in the world.
Pakistan Engineering Students don’t require passing external tests:
- HEC and PEC work for seven years to get international engineering membership of Pakistan. This will help the students to get a job outside in any country of the world without passing equivalent tests. The students don’t need to pass undertaking any other exam.
- We have motivation for improving the quality of education and raise the education standards of the country. 2016 is a record year of publications from the Pakistan as over 1200 came out of the country.
- We have strict no plagiarism policy and focus on the research. However, it requires lot more years for Pakistan to meet the standards set in the West.
What do you mean by the quality?
- Education is the only key to get success in the world and made your name but quality matters a lot. The quality of education is really important for the person’s knowledge and atmosphere also.
- This time HEC wants to improve the quality of education instead of the numbers of institutes. The number of student doesn’t matter if the students are not well equipped for professional life.
Universities in Pakistan:
- HEC added that we have seen the number of establishments in Pakistan education department. In 2002, there were only 59 universities located in the major cities of the country.
- But this time we have 188 universities in Pakistan with around 1.3 to 1.4 million students are enrolled. This shows the development of the nation and education department.
Pakistan HEC:
- HEC visits several universities and institutes to review the quality standards. They shut down those universities programs that remain unable to meet the minimum quality criteria of degree.
- This progress of Pakistan higher education department shows that they really want educated nation. They have raised the standards to meet country’s degree worldwide and made the name for the nation.
Pakistan universities ranking is improved this year as NUST ranked among top 500 universities in the world. This is reason HEC closes 110 Ph.D. programs to improve ranking.
