Google Introduce ‘Password Alert’ To Prevent Phishing Attacks

Many of us use the same password for different sites but it’s always a bad practice. If your one account comprised then your rest accounts are also hacked easily. But you need to know how your account is hacked? The most common reason of account hacking is a Phishing attack.

No matter how sophisticated is your browser and internet security? There is always a risk that users are submitting the information in the wrong links and wrong websites. This will actually hack the user password and the phenomenon is normally known as a Phishing attack.

But this time Google has a new idea to fight against these attacks!

Google has resolved the problems of people and help them to fight against fake things. The search giant has released a new Chrome extension to fight against phishing attacks.

Actually, phishing is a real concern for everyone including journalists, activists or individuals. These all people can easily trick in different sites that look similar to them and lost their privacy. This is actually challenging for people to recognize original one in many cases.

Google unveils Chrome extension called Password Alert:

  • The search engine has unveiled this extension in the modern world to serve as an early warning. It will help the people to protect themselves from inserting the password in the wrong site.
  • If you’re Google user then you can easily save yourself from phishing. The company’s Password Alert extension aims to prevent scams from compromising your account. It will notify you whenever you enter your Google credentials into an untrusted site.

The working of Password Alert is simple and helpful for the people. This extension will actually store your password and compare a hashed version. Every time you enter the password in a site then it will compare with the stored one. It will check whether the site is genuine Google Sign in Page.

If it finds something wrong on the site then it will notify you something is wrong. It will display a warning message to your screen. There’s no keylogging with the password i.e. you don’t have to worry. It will never watch you whenever you enter your password.

  • This extension will work with multiple profiles on Google Chrome browser. It means you will remain safe both for your work and personal accounts.
  • There is also an option available when it detects a wrong site. It will prompt you to reset your password to keep yourself protected, or an option to ignore the alert. There is also a research shows that 45% of people remain attractive towards phishing site.
  • Google’s team decided to launch this product officially when there is real-world phishing attack on Googlers. This is the thing that force search engine to work for the people and fight against a phishing attack.

Google is always looking towards the development of the world. It has recently announced new option for backup of your entire computer. It also introduces an algorithm to remove watermarks from stock images.
