Google Drive App Is Being Shut Down In March

Google always want to change the trend of a modern world and working for a better platform. Almost everyone in the world uses the Google Drive for online storage of data. The stats show that nearly 800 million people using Google Drive.

Google discontinue the Drive app only for desktop version i.e. mobile users are free to use the service. Different blogs are providing fake news about the Google Drive closure but Google is just upgrading the technology. What’s the alternative?

Google officially announced to start closing the app from 11th December 2017. This app will completely shut down on March 12th, 2018. But this is not a big shock for people as tech giant already provide an alternative to the people. The two alternatives are:

  • Backup and sync
  • Drive file stream

You can use any platform depending upon your storage and here’s what this app will do.

Backup and sync:

This feature is mostly compatible for the average users but an enterprise can also use this feature. You can install the backup and sync on your computer and it will create folder ‘Google drive’. You just need to place any folder in this and it will automatically sync with folder name ‘My drive’. This will available on all your Drive devices.

Drive file stream:

This feature is available for the enterprise and large organizations. It will let you stream My Drive and Team Drive files directly from the clouds. This feature has turned on for consumers but download link only available if you show Backup and sync.
