The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has ordered an inquiry against the “embarrassing question” which appeared in the English language paper in the recently-held exams.
The matric level paper of Functional English carried a question in which students were asked to describe the personality of their elder sisters in terms of age, physique, height, looks and attitude.
The exam was held a few days ago. However, the university launched an inquiry into the matter after the image of question paper got viral on social media.
According to the statement, university termed the question “inappropriate” and said that an inquiry has been formed to fix the responsibility, and strict action will be taken in the light of inquiry report, it said.
The Vice-Chancellor of AIOU, Dr. Shahid Siddiqui has advised the committee to submit its report within one week.
A spokesperson of the university said question was against the ethics and values of our society. He said that the paper was prepared by the university teachers but it was out of the box that how it is cleared by the officials concerned. There wasn’t any harsh reaction by the students in the examination hall and the issue was raised later on, he added.
