The OLMT project has halted when Supreme Court observed that it destroyed many historic places. These places include Shalimar Gardens, Buddhu ka Awa, Charburji, Zebunissha Tomb and Lakshami.

  • Heavy machinery has already reached the destination. There is only waiting for utilities to relocate and company will start construction work on the three-story underground station.

Authorities have decided to close Lahore’s Mall road for next 3 months.

  • Shahid Saleem added that Lahore’s Mall road is to close from Monday. But later city traffic police added there is a need to carpet alternative roads before closing down. WASA has already completed their sewerage works in the area and most alternative roads have big potholes.
  • However, one Mall road is going to close from Monday. The traffic from Regal Chowk is sent towards Fane road and then they move towards lower mall road.
  • Traffic from lower mall road is diverted towards Napier Road and re-enter mall road after high court. This system will remain to continue for the next 3 months.

This is really a great project but requires plenty of time to complete. Saleem added it is difficult to say how much utility companies require time to complete their tasks. It will be unveiled after digging.
