Smartphone Addict Goes Blind After 24-Hr Marathon Gaming

Have you ever spent 24-hours of playing a game? Never dare to make it happen as Chinese smartphone addict goes blind for using mobile 24-HR. Do you believe that?

This is really weird and a lesson for people using a smartphone for long time period. Chinese women aged 21-years old has been rendered partially blind after playing a video game on her smartphone. This news has made a new debate in the world and showing side effects of technology.

What happens to the girl?

  • The unnamed game addict ended up in the hospital after 24-hour smartphone gaming marathon. She was playing a multiplayer online game known as ‘Honour of kings’ when she suddenly lost vision. The girl rushed to the hospital as she lost vision from her right eye, the south china morning post reported.
  • She is diagnosed with the vision problem i.e. Retinal Artery Occlusion (RAO). This condition is common among the elderly people but rare in the younger ones. It happens to the girl as she is stick to the smartphone screen for longer time period.
  • Xiaojing (apparently fake name of the victim) is a real smartphone addict goes blind for the sake of a game. She added that she plays the game even all the day of weekends and play it after the work. The girl spends all the night playing this game and glued her eyes with the smartphone.

Xiaojing shared her game addiction:

She quoted that ‘She gets up at 6 am and plays the game till 4 pm’. I only eat breakfast if I had no work to do and spend time on playing a game. Later, I eat something after 4 pm, take nap and play a game till 1 am.

The girl added she is no more able to see the world from her right side. She said her eye dimmed gradually before going dark completely. The girl claims that sometimes I forgot to eat and not listen to my parents when they call me.  She said sometimes play the game for seven to eight hours at a stretch without getting up.

Xiaojing works in the finance department and training to be accountant department and smartphone gaming is her hobby. She lost her eyesight early one evening after an incredible marathon session.

Her parents took her to the several hospitals in the area but none of them described the exact cause. She is still in the hospital and her eye condition is critical. The doctors are making efforts and trying to save the eye of the lady. They don’t confirm whether the sight of lady returns or not.

It is one of the most popular smartphone games of the China and has more than 200 million users. This company has already restricted kids under the age of 12 for playing this game. They are bound to play just one hour in a day to prevent addiction among the children.

One should need to take a break after every half an hour to prevent damage caused to your eyesight. If you don’t follow doctor’s advice then probably you’ll also become a victim just like Chinese smartphone addict goes blind.
