What is the report of State Bank?
- The report states that Karachi emerges as the cheapest city of Pakistan among top major cities. It all happens as consumer price index inflation (CPI) is recorded at 1.7 percent this year. However, the last year percentage shows that it is 3.3 and big comparison.
- But Lahoris should need to aware from the report as it remains a most expensive city of Pakistan. It is recorded in terms of cost of living from State Bank of Pakistan.
- The State Bank added that this year report of inflation monitor showed mixed trends during August. This comparison is made in federal and provincial capitals of Pakistan.
Comparison among Karachi and Lahore:
- The Karachi inflation report states 1.7 percent while the Lahore inflation states 5.1 percent. This inflation is observed this year and has large gap among both cities.
- The food inflation for the Karachi is observed 0.7 percent and non-food is observed with 2.5 percent. This time Lahore food inflation is highest with 4 percent and non-food inflation is observed with 6 percent comparatively larger.
- The central bank didn’t mention the exact reason for the decrements of Karachi’s inflation. However, the other major cities are also included and their inflation rates are mentioned below.
Inflation rates of other major cities:
- The CPI for the Peshawar stands for the 2.1 percent and larger than Karachi.
- Islamabad inflation report states the inflation of 5 percent, lower than Lahore.
- Quetta inflation is not reported as it made the decline in CPI inflation.
- The complete report states that main CPI of the country fell to 3.4 percent and Karachi still cheapest city.
