Since childhood, we believe in a lot of facts and figures and especially about germs. We have a lot of myths about germs and things that cause us ill. However, many of them are just trick a person. This article will aware you with a lot of myths that you believe and need to stop at once.

  1. Myth: Antibiotic will make me better when I have a cold.

Many of us believe in this myth but it is only true in case of bacteria. Whenever you face bacteria; you require antibiotic to remove from the body. But it is not true for other viruses such as cold, flu or sore throats. Every infection doesn’t end with anti-biotic – meet your doctor.

  1. Myth: Don’t worry about fever until it is too high.

You’re the one that doesn’t want to eat medicines for fever. But the fact is that sometimes a few fevers are an indication of virus or infection. If you find something worse with fever such as vomiting or a cough then contact a doctor immediately.

  1. Myth: Sitting on public toilet gives you an infection.

This myth is actually believable by almost everyone in the universe. Don’t worry; go in the public toilet and have a seat. This seat is actually clean and doesn’t worry about getting an infection. Worries about your hands as toilet handler or bathroom knob contains germs. Your doorknob is also a common reason for getting germs to your hands.

  1. Myth: Antibacterial soap is preferable than a regular one.

Many of us have a habit to invest in expensive items especially in case of soaps. We are all conscious towards our health and don’t take any risk. But the reality is that soap can only wash bacteria but never kills bacteria. Whether you wash hands with anti-bacterial or regular ones; it only rinses bacteria from hands. It is hardly difficult to make a difference between these two.

  1. Myth: Sitting close to TV worsens your eyesight.

We always heard from parents to sit a far from the television. Our parents teach us that sitting near to television worsen your eyesight. But in a modern world; since no study has found to prove this myth. Although sitting near to the television usually causes eyestrain. So avoid sitting near to the television.

  1. Myth: Cold water makes you sick.

Everyone is sitting in their homes when winter approaches. No one wants to spend time outside as it makes you feel ill. But actually cold doesn’t make you sick or fever. When you’re touching doorknobs or other items there’s a chance you got a virus from someone else. Actually when a sick person coughs – they release droplets of saliva. If you touch this surface and then touch your eyes or nose – you probably get infection.

  1. Myth: Hot water cleans best as compared to cold water.

There’s no research proving these myths about germs true. Actually, researchers found that both waters wash the same amount of germs from hands.
