An extended family belonging from Karachi turned their way to Hawks Bay Beach for having got together. But their outing turned into worst tragedy for them. At least, 12 members of the family including three teenagers and adults died while they are at the beach. The tragedy happened with the family when everyone was saving others from drowning.
This was the horrible accident occurred on Saturday night at Hawks Bay Beach. The family was enjoying the water while the government had already ban swimming during monsoon season. This beach was popular for the rough water in the season and many people died every year.
Government officials and lifeguard:
- Lifeguard Muhammad Asad added that we retrieved 12 dead bodies from the water aged between 12 and 50. He added that the operation was ended due to the night and we will search for bodies in the morning.
- SHO added that this family belongs to the Nazimabad neighborhood of Karachi. They came to the beach for a family get together at Hawke’s Bay Beach. Hawks Bay beach is popular for sandbars give way to several-foot depths. Family members swimming close to shore and others rushed to save them from high tide in the sea.
- Perhaps, none of them remains able to beat the high tide of water and all the victims are related to each other. The bodies were first driven to Mauripur’s hospital and later shifted to Civil Hospital.
- The warnings are already displayed at prominent places to stay away from deeper waters and swimming. However, picnickers ignore these warnings and nearly three dozen of people including men and women died since the ban.
The surviving members of the family added that accident happened when they were planning to return home. Two youngsters insisted to swim for last time and sucked into deeper water. The other members will rush to save them but overcome by a monster wave.
