1. Koh-i-Chiltan – Haunted by restless spirits of children
Koh-i-Chiltan is the peak of a rocky mountain called Chehel-Tan (Forty Bodies) in Quetta. According to a legend, it is haunted by the spirits of 40 dead children who were abandoned there by their parents.
2. Makli Hill – An abandoned cemetery
Located on the suburbs of Thatta, Makli Hill is one of the largest necropolises in the world. It has around 125,000 graves of rulers, saints and kings that date back to as far as the 13th century. Eerie and hauntingly beautiful, Makli Hill fits the description of a spooky abandoned cemetery.
3. Shehr-e-Roghan – Inhabited by demons
Shehr-e-Roghan is an archaeological town in Balochistan which is popularly referred to as the City of Caves or City of Jinns. It is said that during the time of King Soloman, there lived a beautiful princess called Badiul Jamal in the city who was possessed by demons. Numerous princes tried to rescue her but failed, then one day Prince Saiful Malook came and got rid off her tormentors. The rumour is that those demons still inhabit the mountains and caves, and attack the unwary visitors.
4. Mohatta Palace – Haunted by ghosts of British Raj Era
Mohatta Palace is one of the most famous haunted sites in Pakistan, located in Karachi. The magnificent palace that was built in 1927, is now a museum. It is seemingly innocent, but people have reported many strange happenings. Things move around by themselves, lights grow dim, voices can be heard and a certain chilling ‘presence’ can be felt.
5. Mohenjo-daro – Destroyed by Atomic Bomb
It was rather boring to study about Mohenjo-daro in school. However, the archaeological site is simply fascinating. According to scientific studies, evidence of thermonuclear explosion has been found. It is already known that the Indus Valley civilization was way ahead of its time, but it is quite creepy to think that it was destroyed by a nuclear weapon more than 2,000 years ago!
6. Kalabagh Dam – A witch hangs out at night
Kalabagh Dam is a proposed dam on the Indus River, Punjab. According to locals, a witch has been seen walking around at night. They have described her as small in height with a heavy built, long hair and a crazy gaze that seems to suck out your soul.
7. Koh-e-Sulaiman – The mountain that holds many secrets
In Pashtun folktales, Koh-e-Sulaiman, the highest summit of the Takht-i Sulaiman, is said to be associated with Prophet Solomon. Ibn-e-Batuta, a Muslim historian and traveller, claimed that Prophet Solomon was the first person ever to reach the peak of the mountain. Not only that, Prophet Noah and his followers supposedly settled there after the flood.
8. Chaukhandi tombs – Creepiest cemetery that burns up at night
Chaukhandi Tombs is an ancient Islamic graveyard located approximately 29 km east of Karachi. The centuries-old cemetery is now abandoned and contain graves of kings and queens. The word is – when the sun goes down, the graves begin to burn up and turn scalding hot. This is accompanied by ghostly apparitions and screams of the restless spirits.
9. Pir Chattal Noorani Gandhawa – A breathtaking oasis with a terrible secret
Located in Jhal Magsi, Balochistan, Pir Chattal Noorani Gandhawa is a breathtaking oasis with a terrible secret. It is flourishing with two feet long fish that can cause a humiliating and painful death to those who cause them harm. Would you dare to take a swim?
10. Lake Saiful Muluk – The land where fairies mourn
Centuries ago, Prince of Persia and the Fairy Princess of the lake fell in love. Unfortunately, the Fairy Princess was betrothed to the Demon. When the Demon heard the news, he murdered the lovers. To this day, the mountain fairies visit the lake to mourn the tragic demise of the lovers.
